Rationale Report, Alternate Solution #1

Alternate Solution 1

Alternative Solution #1:
This solution has its pros and cons like any other solution for the power systems of the vehicle.  In this solution where the vehicle will use treads as traction there will be two separate motors power each of the treads.  The wiring is the same for both of the vehicles since both solutions will be using two motors and the same necessary accessories to complete the mission.  The robotic kit comes with the microcontroller that connects to the battery and that all the wires from the motors, camera, and claw plug into.
The pros of using treads instead of tires is that since there is more surface area on top of the sand the vehicle is less likely to sink into the ground.  With the two treads there will be two separate motors powering each tread.  These two motors will be able to move the vehicle in any direction and will also allow it to do full three hundred and sixty degree turns.
With the pros of this solution there are also many cons.  One of the cons is that it will be harder to control with the controller because both motors have to be spinning at the same speed or else the robot will start to turn to the left or right.  Another con is that the spinning wheels inside the tread might clog up with sand disabling one side of the vehicle.
Ultimately, this solution has many pros and cons.  Some of the pros are that it will move better across the dunes, it can do a three hundred sixty degree turn, and it will be easier to build.  Some of the cons are that it will be harder to control and the treads might fill up with stand and clog the wheels inside the tread.

Is this solution useful?
I believe solution will work very well and will function as promised.  This solution satisfies all of our needs and also satisfies an appropriate level of performance.

Is this solution usable?
All these solutions use the same ergonomically friendly controller that anyone can pick up and use easily.  This solution can be used in good weather conditions when the battery is fully charged.

Is this solution producible?
I think this solution is very producible if it has to be manufactured.  It would be very producible because all the pieces are already mass produced in factories and they are easily assembled.

Is this solution profitable?
I think that this solution is profitable because all sorts of people can use this vehicle to either have fun or scientists can use this for research.  Since, it is open to a wide range of people the product will be very profitable.
